Agarest: One month to go

Fri, 1st Jul 2011 | Posted by Ross

Hi Everyone.  So June has passed and we’re into July now. This means it’s less than a month until the amazing Agarest: Generations of War Zero Collector’s Edition is released.  I was a huge fan of the first game and I can tell you that the prequel is even better!

While you don’t need to have played Agarest: Generations of War to understand the storyline of Agarest Zero it’s always nice to fill yourself in on the previous (or should that be future :)) chapters in the story.  So for those of you who didn’t buy Agarest: Generations of War the first time around, you can now get both games in our fantastic double pack.   And remember that Agarest: Generations of War Zero allows you to load a completed save from Agarest: Generations of War

Not only that, but fans of the original will no doubt be interested to hear that all the downloadable goodies for Agarest: Generations Of War are currently available on the PSN store at greatly reduced prices (I haven’t got my calculator handy but I’ve been told that everything has about 50% off!)  It’s all part of Sony’s current DLC special promotion, but you’ll have to hurry because the promotion will end on July 6th!

In other news we’ve had a very nice guy called Joe in to do work experience with us this week.  Today is his last day so I hope he’s enjoyed his time with us.  It’s been great having him help us out this week and everyone here wishes him the best of luck when he leaves us to go back to school.

I’m now beginning to get together a few questions for a Q&A blog so you might see one again sometime soon.  So if you’ve got anything you want me to cover in it let me know.

I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll be back next Friday with some exciting news about a new PSP title that we have in the pipeline.

I think I was definitely going to the wrong school - when we had work experience I considered myself lucky to work in the local library. Would have given my right arm to work at a games company (though suppose that would have interfered with my gaming somewhat...). Anyway best of luck to Work Experience Joe :D

@Belphegor86 I ended up doing mine in the now closed down biscuit factory in Harlow. I was doing QA so I guess it was kind of handy for games testing.
Artemisthemp says:

Ross any plans for Vita titles?
[GL] Ross says:

No plans that I'm aware of. However I'd expect that to change as the Vita release date comes closer.
Belphegor86 says:

@Ross That sounds like a pretty sweet deal (no pun intended) assuming that tasting samples were involved during QA of course and if it wasn't I'm not sure I could have resisted the temptation of pilfering the merchandise. Intrigued as to the identity of the PSP title - especially after your latest tweet - finding myself leaning towards portable gaming atm.
[GL] Ross says:

@Belphegor86 There was a little of that. I also helped develop a new flavour of biscuits which was fun. Can't remember which flavour it was though. The thing I did most of however was counting the number of crack on a bunch of crackers. Which was about as interesting as it sounds.

I too did my work experience at the local library (wasn't even one of my choices)... My first choice was an animation studio but someone else got that, despite having no interest at all in animation (unlike me) *sigh* Ah well. I *really* need to complete Agarest, but I have to finish playing Tron: Evolution because it's not mine...
FisttOfNorth says:

can't wait for announcing the PSP title but my wishes is hardly gonna make true. I want Another Century Episode R Portable or maybe Danball Senki :) well, i think that i will be pleases with everything you got :)
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

Whats this with libraries, I have been volunteering in a medical library for 10 months now and its a bit of a laugh, my manager loves video games so that works well.
Ailtin says:

Hey Ross, not Agarest but another question. We just heard that Aksys is really bringing Fate/Extra to the US ! (Beside that I freaking screamed so hard out of joy) Are there plans for maybe bringing it here to Europe as well ? You mentioned some games you were not allowed to talk about, so any odds that it may be one of them ? :) Thanks in advance, Ailtin
[GL] Ross says:

@FisttOfNorth Shouldn't be too long now I hope until the announcement. I hope you like it. I'm very excited by it particularly since its a game I suggested we look into. @Ailtin It wasn't one of the five I mentioned a while back. Having said that we're always on the look out for games to pick up so you never know.
Azure says:

I almost forgot the 5 secret games. Any word on an announcement? Really excited about Fate/Extra. Hope it gets a UK release. Also I have a question regarding the Zero DLC!!! When can we expect the first Agarest Zero DLC to hit PSN? and can you give us any idea on what the first DLC will be?
Phi says:

Hi, I was just wondering if your retailers will also bundle the pack with the original Agarest? Thanks.
[GL] Ross says:

@Azure I'm expecting to make the announcement on Friday. I guess I should start writing something up for it soon :) I don't have a date for the Agarest DLC yet but I am chasing it up so hopefully I should hear something on that soon. @Phi Currently the double pack is only available through the Ghostlight website.
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

I have actually been reading up on Agarest GoW Zero, and I have a couple of questions if I may? Firstly what is this "skill card" system... I keep hearing about it but I have no idea if its a necessity or a gimmik or what? Second would be are we seeing the same enemies from Hyperdimension Neptunia, Cross Edge, Trinity Universe etc... not that that would bother me I'm just curious if this is typical Idea Factory... and at 40 quid for the LE I was expecting shorcuts. Anyway I can't wait for it to arrive on the 29th... or there abouts, stupid rural Scotland.
[GL] Ross says:

@Pepsi_Biofusion The skill card system is the character creation system for the first character. In Agarest Zero you get to select cards whch decide your first generation main character's skills, class and weapons etc. As for your 2nd question I have to confess that I haven't played any of the games you mention so I'm not sure. We do try to send our games out promptly so there's a fair chance you may get it by release anyway.
Barry Walsh says:

I was just wondering is the game shipped on the 29th or a few days before?
[GL] Ross says:

@Barry Walsh We usually ship the game a few days before the release date.
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

Thanks Ross, according to reviews it has the same enemies, thankfully as far as niche japanese games go its fairing very well... unless you hate japanese flair... I think I needn't worry. Anyway sorry for the minial questions, I'll think up better ones next time.
[GL] Ross says:

@Pepsi_Biofusion No problem I'm always happy to answer anything I can. It does seem to be doing fairly well in review. Porbably because its a very good game :)
Ghostly says:

Ross will we have to play Hard mode to get the Platinum trophy like the first Agarest game? Also whos your faveourite Zero character thus far? Although I don`t know the characters Shernini definitely is going to be in my party. She reminds me so much of Fyuria.
[GL] Ross says:

@Ghostly You do need to do it on hard to get Platinum. As for my favourite character Eugene is a lot of fun. In much the same way Winfield was in the first game.
Markaza says:

Ross, is Agarest Zero only going to be sold from the Ghostlight store? No other retailers have any information about the game.
[GL] Ross says:

@Markaza No Agarest is not exclusive to the Ghostlight store. Shopto already have it listed over on their site as for the others it should be going up sometime soon I hope but your best bet is to keep checking. You won't get the T-Shirt though if you order from anyone else.
Ario says:

Hello Ross ! Will Agarest Zero be available at French retailers ?
[GL] Ross says:

@Ario Yes Agarest Zero will be available at retail in France.
