Ghostlight announce Fate EXTRA
Hi Everyone. I seem to remember that in the dim and distant past otherwise known as 2011 we promised a PSP announcement :).
While it’s taken a little longer then we planned I’m delighted to announce that Ghostlight will be bringing Imagepooch and TYPE-MOON’s fantastic RPG Fate/EXTRA to the
Story
Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, the main character finds themselves forced to fight for survival in a war they do not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one’s wish granted. With only an enigmatic “Servant” by their side, the protagonist will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the “Holy Grail,” but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: “Who am I?”
Features
- Intuitive, Fast-paced BattleSystem: Using Break, Attack, and Guard abilities in combination with powerful Special Moves and Code Casts, players are required to plan out their attacks to effectively counter their opponent’s moves and emerge victorious from potentially deadly encounters.
- Engrossing Story: Written by the creator of the original Fate series of PC games, Kinoko Nasu, the story ofFate/EXTRA will not only appeal to long time fans of the Fate universe, via the inclusion of many familiar characters, but will also appeal to RPG fans looking for a deep, non-formulaic storyline that delves into such mature themes as loyalty, death, love, and what it means to be human.
- Extensive replay value: Multiple story paths, each with their own unique dialog trees and character interactions that lead to different endings.
“Aha!”, some of you are probably saying. “This doesn’t match one of the clues you gave out last year!” And, of course, you’d be right. The clue: “It’s part of a Japanese franchise which has seen a few releases in Europebefore, although never on this format”, was incorrect. As MaroonSkein points out in the Comments, there was in fact a Fate fighting game released previously on PSP which I managed to completely forget about. This clue was meant to refer to the UK release of the Fate/Stay Night anime. The second clue did still work though, as the history of our world has been altered somewhat to create the setting for Fate/EXTRA.

I'm delighted to hear this! It's been impossible to get ahold of a US copy of the game (and anyway I was holding on to see if you guys would announce it!). I'm assuming there will be a marvelous limited edition full of goodies for this too? Do you have any idea as to a release date? Don't worry about the error with the Fate/Unlimited fighting game - it was so quietly released on the PSN that barely anyone noticed it.

alright!!! not that i´m suprised but good seeing this one instead off VC3 cause this 1 has jap dubs. can´t wait for a release date. now just for the other 100 psp games not yet released in europe yet from japan. come on ghostlight publish away. seems rising star games also had 2 announcment 1 was way of the samuai 4 for ps3 and the other rune factory.
Excellent! It had to be Fate, so glad I didn't import this from the US. Now have the announcement of the collectors edition to look forward to - every confidence you'll put together another great package guys. Looks like 2012 will be another great year for the PSP.

Good news for all you fate fans :-) I made a new years resolution to cut down on the game buying though and most of my 'stack' is rpgs :-P tits is sooooooo nearly finished and p2 ain't even started yet. Ghostlight whyy to you tempt me so. ;-)

Yay! I was hoping it would be Fate. Very happy fan here. So glad I held off importing. It's going to be a busy year, maybe I should start playing my PSP during lunch hour and my morning commute to get through them all :-)

It was obvious enough that the game was going to be this! I'm glad for those who still have to take it (I already bought the US version some months ago ._. I would have bought your edition too, if it was the new Fate/Extra CCC), so I thank you for bringing it! I think it's a great game and deserves to be enjoyed. Hope it will be a great year for you all! Really hope you can do something for either Valkyria Chronicles 3, Shining Blade or 7th Dragon 2020, during this 2012.
Ghostlight, you ROCK! P3P and TitS were the best PSP games! I'll have a closer look on Fate/EXTRA. Can you give us some news for the collectors edition?
I watched the intro to this and I'm pretty excited. Please put an artbook with lots of sketches in the LE!

Wow, although many people actually said it, this is quite surprising. I was expecting Gungnir or Growlanser... Anyway, maybe I'll buy it if there's an interesting collector's edition.

As stupid as this sounds, I really DON'T want this to be released soon! What with Catherine out in 3 weeks, Mass Effect 3 a month later AND the Bit. Trip Collection, my backlog is slowly piling up ;-;

Good to see F/E show up back in my old neck of the woods! (I live in Canada right now, but I'm from Ireland originally.) Hopefully the game will do well enough in the PAL territories to help make the case easier for Ghostlight to bring Fate/Extra CCC over at some future point, too.

Great news Ghostlight. It´s such a good game one cannot play it enough. And hard. Espacially if you play with one servant like I do. Man she is weak :( But good to have in certain areas. This is a great way to start the new year. Keep em comming :)

Thanks for all the great comments everyone :). @Mike I've been enjoying the anime as well. Alexander the Great is brilliant in Fate Zero. @Pedro Sorry to dissapoint you. It's a game alot of people are quite interested in though. @MrRandom We're still looking at PSP titles so it's possible.
Glad to hear you're still giving the good old PSP support – on that note… we all want more TiTS, of course (another pair, please) once Xseed have finished with their localising… also it would be fantastic if you could look into VC3 and Half-Minute Hero 2. EDF portable would be awesome too. That's my personal wish list. And if you happen to have any contacts in Square Enix who you could tell to take their finger from up their wotsit and release FF Project Zero over here, that would be great :-) keep up the good work guys!

ahh, too many games to get! First FFXIII-2, The Last Story, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2, now Fate/Extra and I still haven't got TitS and nearly finished Persona 2. Too much! But thanks for announcement
Shame I already imported a collector's edition from Canada. I really couldn't wait once I heard it had been translated. I hope it does well though.

As usual, you guys are doing a great job in this land quite barren of great JP content. But let's get down to business. Can I get my hopes up for an awesome Persona 4 The Golden Collector's Edition for the Vita? It's that game's announcement that "forced" me to pre-order a Vita.
@Sleepy Buddha Persona 4 the Golden is a game we're very much aware of and on a personal level as a big fan nof the series it is on eI would love to work on but we have no news on it for the moment.
I'm also getting a Vita primarily in the expectation of Persona 4: The Golden. I'm a fruit-loop for anything Persona-related! DDS and DDS2 on the Vita? Any thoughts, Ghostlight? ;)
@Koolzoid If Atlus were to release those games on Vita I'm sure we'd take note of it.
Ok its totally off topic but I just finished tits! Go me! 59 hrs 14 mins and 5 secs with Estelle and Joshua at lvl 39. Very cliche but its one of the best games ive ever played. Enjoyed every minute of it. I really hope if we see the translation of second and third chapter that you guys publish it over here. Doubt itll get a physical psp release though :( and i ent getting a vita for toffee. But please, after that ending (what a cliffhanger, questions need answering!) bring em over here.
@technochicken Glad you enjoyed TitS. It's one of my favourites. We're not sure how XSEED are going to be releasing the second in the series yet but when we find out if it's in a format in which we can get involved I will be pushing for it.
I would really you would do a special edition similar to the japanese one with the statue.
Is the japanese voice acting going to be in this one? :)
@Ringblod I'll suggest it but I'm not really involved too heavily with the Collector's Editions. As for the voice acting it's all in Japanese.
hi this is the 2nd game that will have japanese voices only. i don't no why ppl hate english dub so much i never hear any dutch actors in english anyway. i hear great british voice actors & actress doing a fine job some american voice acting is good, i cant follow the story in japanese then in english, 1 other point if you read subtitles your eyes are not focus on the centre of the screen, your eyes look down a bit to read the subtitles & you miss something on screen, im sure it be a good game.
@Alistair I don't have a problem with English dubs myself. Some are excellent, some less so. In this case there is actually very little voice acting so it's not really a big deal IMO.

Pretty disapointed with this, I ve expected something bigger like VC3 or Yakuza Black Panther, but it's just FATE... But well there's still Agarest 2 so it's cool. I really hope there will be more next time, maybe Devil Survivor Overclocked (with this stupid region lock we can't buy the US version).
I will get this game. Looking for game for my PSP, this is another one besides my current Fate/ game XD
