Ghostlight to release Agarest: Generations of War 2

Hi everyone.  Welcome back to a very special return for the Ghostlight Friday Blog.  We promised you a big PS3-flavoured announcement in last week’s blog and I’m delighted to be able to tell you that there is now one less PlayStation®3 kit on my desk.  Er… wait that’s not the right announcement. Sorry about the slight technical difficulty there.

Ghostlight are delighted to reveal that we will be working with the wonderful people over at Idea Factory and Aksys to release the magnificent Agarest: Generations of War 2 in Europe.  We’re going to be doing another one of our fabulous Collector’s Editions so get ready for some more news on the contents in 2012.

The Story:

One day, the world was enveloped by a mysterious blinding light. The destruction it caused was terrible, even as the light itself was sublime in its beauty, and it made those who witnessed the awesome display think of the unrestrained rage and fury of the divine.

The central continent, from where the light is believed to have originated from, went silent, while at the same time demons began to spread throughout the world like a plague. Amongst the survivors of the catastrophe, that fateful day became known as the "Day of Light."

Sometime after the events of the Day of Light, a young man by the name of Weiss, who had lost all memory of himself, encounters an enigmatic woman named Eva, who introduces herself as an Agent of the Divine. It is from her that Weiss learns that he has committed the grievous sin of deicide, and that in order for him to atone for his crime he is to become the "Vessel" in which the power of the divinity he had slaughtered will be stored. For it will be that power that will be used to resurrect the one whose life he stole.

For those who betray the divine will pay for their sins in the space which separates salvation and damnation, as will their progeny...

Agarest 2 features:

  • Revamped BattleSystem: Unlike the first two games of the series, Agarest 2 battles are fought with an engaging active grid-based battle system.
  • HD graphics: Enjoy your favorite characters, environments and CGs in high-definition!
  • Mini-games: Engage in PlayStation®Move compatible Bathtub, Shiatsu, and Massage mini-games.
  • New Agarest Universe: Roam freely in the newly designed world of Agarest

Agarest: Generations of War 2 is due out in 2012.

Speaking of Agarest, I’m also glad to tell you that the final three pieces of Agarest: Generations of War Zero DLC; Voice Open, Face Gallery Open and Movie Gallery Open are now available on the PlayStation Store.  So, if you haven’t already, why not head over to the Agarest: Generations of War Zero section of the PlayStation Store and check out all our DLC, both free and paid?

Finally, some of you may have noticed there’s a little event creeping up on us called Christmas.  We’ve still got Agarest Zero T-Shirts as well as Trails in the Sky posters and Persona 2: Innocent Sin T-Shirts left, so why not get your order from the Ghostlight Store and not only will your friends and family get one of these fantastic games, but they’ll also get one of the fabulous exclusive items today.  We’re going to keep shipping any orders made through our website every weekday until the 23rd December, but if you’re ordering something for Christmas you might want to check out this handy guide to the last posting dates from Royal Mail.  We can now accept payments via PayPal so it is even easier to order from the Ghostlight Store.  If you have any problems with our new payment system please let us know.

That’s all for now, but I’ll be back in my regular Thursday slot next week with all the news from Ghostlight.  Until then remember to keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook and our brand new, shiny Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight.  You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.

Release date please! :D Awesome news, instant pre-order :)
Pepsi_Biofusion says:

Awesome news (predictable but still awesome) Agarest 2 looks far superior to the first 2, as I prefer Cross Edge over Agarest Zero (only slightly mind) and I'm sure your collectors edition will be very good as allways :D Can we get something a little more embarrassing this time? Odd request I know but it would suit the game well i.e. a cheeky little pillow case or towel like South Korea got. Anyway I'm sure it'll be great and I guarantee my purchase :D
Eru says:

You have *more* PS3 titles on your desk *_* ? Thanks for being awesome in releasing an entire series of games!
[GL] Ross says:

Sorry If I'm a bit slow getting your comments up and replying. It has gone crazy :) In a good way. @Silentgig Not played it yet but it does look very cool. @Demius No release date yet. aksys are handling the loacalisation and I'm not sure how far they've got. @Pepsi_Biofusion I'll see what we can do :) @Eru Maybe :)
dgnfly says:

not that suprised. but it´s still good 2 see the game getting released agarest 2 is a real improvement from the first 2 games.
dgnfly says:

@Ross how is the unknown psp game progressing is that in a state off announcment.
[GL] Ross says:

@dgnfly No news on that yet. I'm hoping to be able to announce it soon but it might be early next year.
Geo says:

Any update on the PSN versions of Persona 2 and Legend of Heroes? Will we see them before Christmas?
farios says:

badtzmaru says:

Art book and soundtrack CD pretty please! I will pay extra.
[GL] Ross says:

@Geo I'm hoping to have a date soon but they are unlikely to be released before Christmas.
Geo says:

@Ross Thanks for the update!
Komic says:

Thank you god!!!!! oh and Ghostlight.
Tom says:

Thanks a lot ghostlight, for supporting EU JRPG fans :D. Looking forward to it. A question: The JP version never got an install feature (with some resulting slow downs), is there any way you could add one?
Rena says:

I said it would be Agarest War 2 and it was. Now I just need Aksys to announce, they release Record of Agarest War 2 in US.
Seishoujyo says:

Grat news, Agarest 2 is a big revolution in the serie.
Sekai says:

Omg, you made my day. Thank you very much!!! I love it.
tanuki says:

To say the truth I was waiting for something different than Agarest 2 because in my mind it was evident that you'll be publishing this, one day or another. But it's still great and I thank you in advance for the great job ;)
Darkscorpius says:

Sweet, looking forward to this. Cheers for bringing the series to Europe guys. Now I just need to finish Agarest War Zero..
[GL] Ross says:

I've Just heard that Trails in the Sky and Persona 2 are out on PSN next week.
Tom says:

Cool! Please nothing embarassing in the CE though. I love CE's, but I'd have to give it a miss if that kind of thing was there. Still hoping for a 3ds announcement with the word "overclocked" in it somewhere. :)
Zeispharn says:

I love you :)
ObviusFault says:

Ok ghostlight is now my new favorite publisher in EU gj!
[GL] Ross says:

@ObviusFault You mean we weren't before :( :)
dgnfly says:

@Ross omg now i have 2 buy an extra psn card cause corpse party is also released next week. o ya are we getting the same offer as the UMD version.
Mark says:

COOL!!! :) What happened to the video?
Remy says:

Wow! I was hoping, and deep down I already knew, that Agarest: Generations of War 2 was the title that was going to be announced today. But even so, the news is amazing! I love the Agarest series and am proud to say that I own each game at least twice (NTSC and PAL). I'll probably do the same with this one! Keep it coming, Ghostlight! I have the deepest recept for you guys! And if you ever open an office in the Netherlands, I'll be glad to be an employee. :) Best of luck creating yet another wonderful Collector's Edition for us! One hint; soundtrack, artbook or both! =)
Crimson_Cloud says:

http://youtu.be/PDXLjQBp0D0 Thank you, thank you! Please put Collector's Edition for Europe! That would made my day.
SoulReaver says:

Superb! Thanks guys! Just a question though... will you keep the original opening? ^^
Ruri says:

"we will be working with the wonderful people over at Aksys" ...well then! I'm pretty sure I know what this means ! (I'm super glad)
Keksus says:

Awesome. I just fear that the EU-Version will be released later than the US-Version again. Or will you be able to release the EU-Version at the same day the US-Version is released this time?
ObviusFault says:

well actualy you and square enix is tied but passing them is something you should be very proud off! i just started playing digital devil sage today aswell so i think i have almost every game you published!
[GL] Ross says:

@dgnfly There is going to be a bundle :) @Mark It should be fixed now. @Crimson_Cloud We will be doing a Collector's Edition @SoulReaver I'd imagine so. @Keksus We're going to try our best to match the US release date.
Rena says:

I wonder how diffrent the EU CE will be compare to US CE. (Oh well getting both). http://yfrog.com/kjt3daaj <-- Don't see why ppl find a handicheck so fun :P
Richie says:

Great news about Persona 2 on PSN, can you disclose the price so I know what PSN card to buy!
[GL] Ross says:

@Richie I'm just writing up a blog post about that now. So you'll have the price by the end of the day hopefully :)
Oxi says:

You MUST leave the japanese cover, it's way too epic, instead the usa's one sucks :/
Crimson_Cloud says:

Thank you for the answer, I can't wait! Just a notice, though. Please don't use the over the top writing. I know you'll be forced from time to times and it's no big deal, but if some scenes don't need it then don't. If a character says ''nani?'' please don't translate it as two sentences. Just use the usual quality like you did previous two games ;) Thank you and God bless you!
[GL] Ross says:

@Crimson_Cloud Aksys who did the localisation for Agarest Zero are also handling the translation for Agarest 2. While the localisation is not finished yet I'm confident they'll be able to maintain their high standards here.
Crimson_Cloud says:

Thank you for the answers Ross. You've been a really informative and patient person to answer a question to every single person. ^^
Deuce02 says:

I've been interested in getting into this series for a while, can someone tell me if I should start with the first one? Or could I get into this without knowing anything?
KosakaiS says:

Hi if i buy form you using via paypal do you do shipping to australia? for when agarest 2 comes out?
[GL] Ross says:

@KosakaiS We are indeed able to ship to Australia :).
