The Agarest Zero beta begins

Thu, 6th Mar 2014 | Posted by Ross

With the Agarest Zero beta test beginning last week we’ve been busy working with our elite team of beta testers :).   Which sadly meant I wasn’t able to tear myself away from the beta forum to write a blog last week.  However fear not because I have returned bringing with me the latest news from the Ghostlight offices.

Speaking of the beta test so far it seems to be going really well and I’d really like to thank all our beta testers for their help.   We’ve had some really great feedback on lots of bugs and some interesting suggestions as well.

At some point down the line we’re going to be introducing a second round of beta testers, so please do keep an eye on the blog as we’ll let you all know when we will open the invites.

We’ve also been thinking a lot about how to handle the DLC from Agarest following on from all your comments.  Reading through the feedback thread over on the Steam forums my impression is that the majority of people do want all the console DLC to be available to PC gamers.  Having said that the general impression I have is that many people feel that there are far too many individual DLC pieces available to buy and it can be a little overwhelming.  A viewpoint I can certainly sympathise with.  For Agarest Zero we believe we have come up with a solution which should balance the desire to give PC gamers the same options as console gamers while not having such a large number of DLC pieces available.  Currently we plan on offering a number of DLC bundles, each containing several pieces of DLC.  While this is somewhat less convenient than being able to pick and choose individual items, to make up for that we have discounted the price of these bundles.  We also intend to continue providing some of the console DLC free with the game itself.

The other suggestion regarding the DLC was that if you purchased it after starting a save game it would automatically be imported to that save.  As many gamers pointed out that they were purchasing the DLC for a later save and didn’t necessarily want to use it in their current one we have now implemented a new menu system which allows users to choose whether they want to import the DLC into their current save.  Which is nice :).

Moving on from Agarest it has been a couple of weeks since OMG Zombies! was released on Steam and together with Laughing Jackal we’ve had lots of great feedback from people who are enjoying the game.  It’s also been fun to see the leaderboard fill up,even if it has meant I’ve moved down a few places.  At the time of writing I sit in 5th with 222,370 zombie kills if anyone wants to try and knock me down even further :).  OMG Zombies! is currently available on Steam here priced at £3.99.

I’ll be back next week, but until then why not follow us on our Twitter and Facebook pages, our Youtube Channel and our  Google + account, where we’ll be posting all the latest news from Ghostlight? You can also follow me on Twitter for a more personal take on all things Ghostlight.
